District 7 Neighborhoods

  • Barber

    This neighborhood was developed to provide housing for Diamond Match Factory workers in the 1900s and was named after Diamond Match Company owner Ohio Columbus Barber. The streetcar traveled through the neighborhood to the factory, first on Chestnut, then Broadway, and then Park Avenue to 16th Street.

  • Meriam Park

    One of Chico’s newest neighborhoods, Meriam Park is a new urbanist development that strives to be walkable and mixed-use.

  • Parkview / E 8th Street

    An area along East 8th Street that includes the Park Vista Drive neighborhood, Valley Oaks Village, Turning Point Commons, and several streets named after counties. The latter was historically known as “The Flat Tops” due to the homes having flat roofs, however, most roofs have been reconstructed.

  • Chapmantown

    East of Park Avenue, Chapmantown is a historic neighborhood founded in the 19th century by Augustus Chapman. The neighborhood expanded in the 20th century to include the areas east of Boucher Street, which were annexed to the City in 2020.

  • Sierra View Elementary School

    North of the Park

    North of the Park: District 7 includes a section of neighborhoods north of Bidwell Park, including Sierra View Elementary School.

  • Mulberry

    A small working-class neighborhood south of East 20th Street. This area was annexed to the City in 2020

  • Forest Avenue

    This corridor from E 8th Street to E 20th Street includes numerous apartments and houses.
